Stephen Wilson

June 15, 1947 ~ June 7, 2019 (age 71)

(71) of Johnstown entered into eternal life June 7, 2019.  Born June 15, 1947, son of Charlene M. Wilson.  Proceeded in death by his parents, sister Dyrthe Wilson, brother, David C. King and nephew, Michael Whitfield.  Survived by his brother Deacon Jeffrey L. Wilson (Wendy), Sister Ola Mae Hobson of Greensboro, AL.

Son, Associate Professor of Psychology, Penn State University, Stephen J. Wilson (Alissa) and Grand children Caleb, Emerson, Adelynn and Anniston, Port Matilda, PA, nephew Douglass L. Whitfield and sons and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was a 50-year member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served for over 40 years as a Usher at the front door. He also served as Assistant Superintendent of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Sunday School.  Steve was a 1965 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School where he was a honor student and a 1967 Graduate of Cambria Rowe Business College.  He served the U.S. Air Force as a Desk Sargent in Turkey.  He worked for Cambria Savings and Loan Bank and retired from the U.S. Department of Labor and Industry Bureau of Employment Security, Johnstown.

Stephen enjoyed starting his day early, making coffee and fellowship with his friends at the Greater Johnstown Retired Men’s and Ladies Club where he was a 5-year Board Member.  He was also Merchandise Sales Manager for Smooth Sound Band.

An active member of the community, who looked out for his mother and sister Dyrthe, attended Steelers games and baseball games with his brothers Dave and Jeff.  Steve was a quiet, humble, intelligent, faithful, loving father, grandfather, son, and brother.

Family and friends will be received Sunday June 16th from 5- 8PM.  Homegoing service will be 11:00AM June 17th at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 205 Peelor Street, Prospect.  The Pastor Rev. Clyde Williams, Jr. officiating. Committal Grandview Cemetery.
