Dr. Donald Paul Koval July 12, 1937 - September 15, 2021 84, of Johnstown, passed away September 15, 2021. Born July 12, 1937, son of Michael and Mary (Evanisko) Koval. Preceded in death by parents, wife Barbara (Schilling), and twin brother Ronald Peter Koval. Survived by his children Helen, Nicholas, and Richard Koval. Also survived by his sisters Elaine Koval and Nancy Hall (Stephen) and nieces and nephews Caryl Strauss (Brian), Peter Koval (Dana), Susan Koval, Michael Hall (Cindy), and many cousins and countless friends. "Doc" graduated from Westmont Upper Yoder High School in 1955, and received his doctorate from Lincoln Chiropractic College in 1962. He was very active in Scouting in various capacities. He was an Eagle Scout, a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, and a recipient of the George Meany Award, the Silver Beaver, and many other recognitions. He was also a major supporter of the former Roaring Run Scout Reservation, and served for several years as Director of the Boy Scout Gang Show. He was well known in the Johnstown community for his volunteer efforts with United Way, local food banks, Johnstown Day Care Center, Cambria City Mission, Stackhouse Park, and numerous other organizations. He was also a long-time supporter of SEIU Local 668 and AFL-CIO. He was a proud member of Christ the Saviour Cathedral where he served as a cantor and sang in the choir. He also actively supported Christ the Saviour Educational Center, St. Sophia Orthodox Christian Academy, and Camp Nazareth in Mercer, PA. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Moskal-Reid Funeral Home and are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 9 a.m. at Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Johnstown, the Very Reverend Protopresbyter Robert Buczak and the Very Reverend Protopresbyter Miles Zdinak co-celebrants, Committal Grandview Cemetery.
