Obituary
Ericka Cherish Jones 55 of Johnstown PA earned her wings on 11/12/2022 after a long illness. Ericka leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by hilarious sense of humor. She was truly the life of the party. Ericka was born on September 29, 1967 to Willie Jones and Elizabeth (nee Williams) Jones in New York City. Ericka was a hair dresser and was sought out by all to do their hair. Ericka at one time was one of the best braiders in town. If there was one thing to know about Ericka, it was that she loved the Lord. Through all her trials and tribulations Ericka had a fond and great relationship with the Lord. Ericka started her education in the Bronx NY but moved to Johnstown at a very early age. Ericka attended the Greater Johnstown School District and went on to graduate from Cosmetology School. As a child Ericka was involved with Junior Achievement and was a candy striper. Ericka also took piano lessons for many years and sang in her church’s youth choir known as the Rosebuds. Ericka worked as a hairdresser up until she became ill. Ericka is preceded in death by her son Mikah Jones, her father Willie Jones and her maternal and paternal grandparents. Ericka leaves behind to mourn, her daughter Shatara Jones, 3 grandchildren Mi’Amor Jones, Qua-Zeem Abdul-Ghaffaar and A'Nyleii Jones , her great granddaughter Adore, her brother Dana, and Mother Elizabeth Jones. Ericka also leaves behind her Godmother Miriam Yancey of the Bronx, NY her Godfather Maurice Williams of Johnstown, and her Godson Nassar. Special Tribute to her care taker and longtime companion Kevin Smith.
A viewing will be held at 10:00 am Monday November 21, 2022 until the Service at 11:00 am at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 351 2nd St. Johnstown, PA 15909. Interment immediately following at Grandview Cemetery 801 Millcreek Rd. Johnstown PA 15905. Professional services entrusted to Moskal-Reid Funeral Home 79 J St. Johnstown PA 15906.
