Daughter of Martin and Julia Holko (Swaltek)

Preceded in death by parents, husband of 66 years Andrew Blaschak, infant son Robert, son-in-law Joe Kutchma, siblings Jennie and Walter Swaltek, Stephen, Mary, Bessie, Lou and Mildred Holko.  Survived by her son Joe and Deb(Calpin), Gloria Spindler, Jim and Kim (Warren), daughter Charlotte and Jack(Bowden), Mike, Carol and Don(Haynor), Debbie and Paul(Weidman), 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. 

While raising her family, she was an active member of the PTG and women’s groups at St. Mary’s Byzantine Church where the family are members.  She participated in many fundraising activities at the church where she made candy, nut/poppy seed rolls, and worked bazaars.  Through the Alhambra she volunteered at the Rehabilitation Center, helping disabled children weekly and making their holiday activities memorable.  She was employed by Quaker Sales and Johnstown Bank and Trust Company.   When her children grew older she managed the cafeteria at Chandler School.  She was an excellent baker and candy artisan.  Her life’s work included quilting and embroidery.  She made elaborate quilts for each of her children which will be cherish for generations.

Family and Friends will be received from 4pm-8pm on Sunday March 6, 2022 at Moskal-Reid Funeral Home, 79 J St. Johnstown, PA 15906.  Service will be held Monday March 7, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Byzantine Church 411 Power St. Johnstown, PA 15906. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a children’s charity of your choice in her name.  We also extend immense thanks and gratitude to Windber Hospice for their loving care of our mother in her last days.
