Lillie Marie Sanders-Ellis, lovingly known as “Baye,” answered God’s call into eternal rest on October 1, 2021 after an extended battle with cancer. Born May 1, 1943 as the youngest of twelve children to the late John W. and Lillie Lee (Borders) Sanders, Lillie was a lifelong resident of the area. and was a Greater Johnstown High School graduate. Lillie was employed for several years with various area hospitals as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She later switched careers spending several years employed with and retiring from the Cambria County Employment Office in Johnstown. Lillie was joined in holy matrimony on January 21, 1967 to Robert Ellis. Together, they nurtured the loves of their lives: Constance, Burley and Robert Jr. Lillie was loving, faithful and giving. She oftentimes opened her home to the homeless, freely giving her last to those in need. Her love for life and the pleasures in it included cooking, traveling, bowling and bingo only to name a few. Her greatest joy was time spent with the Lord and with her family. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents; late husband, Robert Sr., children; Constance and Robert Jr.; two sisters; Mary and Marva; five brothers, Charles, John, Curtis, Ernest and Calvin; and grandson Curtis. Lillie’s memories will forever be cherished by son, Burley (Felicia), granddaughters Anissa and Constant Faith, and great-grandson, Izayah all of Clinton, Maryland; one sister, Rose Reed of Johnstown, PA; two brothers, Melvin (Lillie) Sanders of Oakland, California and Louis (Bettie) Sanders of Orlando, Florida; and a host of beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and family friends. All services will be held at: Stevens Memorial Holy Church, 317 William Penn Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15901 and are as follows: Viewing Service will be Friday, October 8, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Calling Hours will be on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Homegoing Service begins at 12 p.m. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery Arrangements entrusted to
