Lira L. Pridgen Jr., 71 of Johnstown, PA, passed away on 19 February 2022. Born November 14, 1950, son of Lira L. Pridgen Sr. and Odle “Jackie” (Tate) Pridgen. Preceded in death by his parents, sister, Geraldine Roper, and brother, Tommy Pridgen Sr. Survived by wife, Beverly Pridgen, daughters, Jacqueline Pridgen, and Claudette Calhoun, grand-daughter, Serena Pridgen, and son-in-law, Steven Calhoun as well as a host of beloved family members and friends.
Lira retired from Peoples Natural Gas Company in 2016 after 48 ½ years of dedicated service. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy. Lira was a devoted family man and a loving husband for 49 years.
Lira loved spending time with friends and family at home and in North Carolina and Alabama. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and cooking.
Lira “Butch” Pridgen was recognized everywhere as real HNIC.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday March, 2, 2022 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at Moskal-Reid Funeral Home 79 J. St. Johnstown, PA 15906, followed by a home going service at 12:00 pm, Rev. Sylvia King officiating. Interment immediately following at Grandview Cemetery.
