Shirley Ann Davis 79, of Riverside California went home to be with her Lord March 18, 2023. Shirley was born on May 27, 1943, in Johnstown, PA to Fred Sr. and Synesta Pruitt.
Shirley accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She worked tirelessly for the Lord as a devoted member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in San Diego, CA.
She was an ambitious entrepreneur owning several businesses. Shirley became a professional cosmetologist early in life in San Diego, CA and then went on to open Shirley D’s Hair Salon. She established herself as one of the best beauticians in the city. Even after switching professions, she remained a faithful personal stylist to many clients over the years. Her hands were Blessed.
Shirley was an amazing nurturer, opening her home to foster children, working in drug and alcohol recovery centers as assistant daycare director, and finally opening her own 24-hour Home Daycare, Grandma Shirley’s Home Daycare Center, in which she operated until retiring. She always went above and beyond for not only the children that attended but their parents and extended families whenever needed.
In her golden years she remained active in her retirement community and devoted herself to being an amazing grandmother.
Preceded in death by her parents, former husband William Brian Davis Sr., her brother Fred Pruitt Jr., her sisters Naomi McNair and Jonell Cotton
She leaves behind to cherish her memory; her daughter, Rozellyn McDonald (husband: William McDonald); her son, William Brian Davis Jr; 5 grandchildren, Danielle, Ashlee, Apollo, Benjamin and William III; 3 great-grandchildren, Amaiya, Selah and Brandon II; her sisters Fannie Randolph and MaryAnn Billingsley; her sisters-in-love Allie Pruitt and Joan Marie Davis; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, family and friends.
