Dr. Stephen Paczolt, 80, died January 3rd, 2023. He is survived by his sister Helen P Elrod and nieces: Laura Elrod, Bethany Zanetti, Lisa Elrod, Susan Farrar Levanduski, Amy Farrar, Jennifer Farrar, Julie Ann Worsham and half-niece Nancy Ireland, nephews: Charles Paczolt Jr, half-nephew George Paczolt Jr. He is predeceased by his parents Basil and Helen Paczolt, his sister Mary Farrar and half-sister Olga Foley, his brother Charles Paczolt and half-brothers John and George Paczolt.

Stephen was born in Johnston, PA and lived in Falls Church, Va. He served in the US army as a first lieutenant from 1965-1967 active duty and 1967-1969 in the US army reserve. He earned a BS from Indiana University, a MA from the University of Pittsburgh, and a PhD from the University of Maryland. He was a professor at the University of Maryland as a visiting Associate Professor of Government and Politics. He retired from the Library of Congress as a Senior Technical Information Specialist in the Geography and Map division.

Stephen was an avid baseball fan, coached little league for many years, was active in his church, and loved researching his Russian heritage.

A service is scheduled for Monday February 6, 2023 at Christ the Saviour Cathedral 300 Garfield St. Johnstown, PA 15906 at 10:00 am, interment immediately following at Christ the Saviour Cemetery.  Moskal-Reid Funeral Home is entrusted with professional services.
