Thomas M. Kindya

June 30, 1943 ~ December 19, 2020 (age 77)


Tom Kindya AKA” Woody/Papa/Papito/Da Papa” From Johnstown PA and Spring Hill, FL entered into heaven on Saturday morning December 19th, 2020. Born on June 30, 1943 in Johnstown. Papa is now re-united with his wife Lea (Bunny), his brother Russ, Mother & Father; Michael(Chip) & Helen, Mother-in-law and Father-in-law; Jean & Lee, grandsons Jonah & Joshua, sister in law Sally, brother-in law Bill Pray, many friends, cousin Andy and dog Woody. He leaves behind, to mourn his passing, daughter & caregiver Shelley (Son in-law & caregiver Dave), son Tommy, and son (previous caregiver) Jimmy & Danielle, grandchildren Nicholas, Natasha, Brianna, and Roberta, great grand children, Jordan and Laila. Tom also leaves behind his siblings and their families , whom he cherished; brother  Bill & wife Gail- nephews, Billy, & Vincent,  niece, Stasia, niece Tammy & husband Rob & great nephews Stephen & Michael, and Niece Kimmy & husband Scott, great Nieces Tori, Brionna & Lila, sister Diane Pray- Niece  Heather & husband Brian & Niece Lauren, brother  Richey & wife Diane- nephews Chris & wife Kris,  and Chad, Brother  Gary & Bev, brother Davey & wife Carol- Nephew Ben & Tish & Niece Karina, Brother Denny & wife Bonnie- Niece Kristy & husband Roger  and Nephew Jonathan & wife Hayle. Tom also leaves behind special caregiver and friend Mary and many dear friends including; Sam, Jim (Beck), Dean, Spider (Jim), Dorsey, The Balog Family, and Bob (Bender).  Papa also leaves behind his beloved dog Teddy. Tom served his Country in the US Navy then pursued a career as a Union Steelworker and a Journeyman Electrician.  Tom enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, boating, vacationing at the beach, bird-watching, and gardening. Tom was a proud member of the following organizations; American Legion, VFW, Croatian Hall, Ferndale Sportsman Club, and Brownstown Vol. Fire Co. (Club). Tom/Papa certainly was one-of-a-kind and will be sorely missed! His sayings, mannerisms, fun personality, and smile will live in our hearts forever.  Due to the pandemic private viewing for family in Johnstown, PA will be held on Monday December 28th, 2020 at Moskal-Reid Funeral Home at 10 am.  Very Rev. Robert Buczak Celebrant, Committal Grandview cemetery. A celebration of Papa’s life will take place in conjunction with his birthday, on June 26th, 2021 in Johnstown PA with full military honors, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, Disabled American Veterans, or Disabled Veterans- Wounded Warrior Project.
