William Kolega Obituary

William George Kolega, 94, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2022. He
was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Incosky) Kolega for 67 years. His Love will
be Forever in Our Hearts...Grief is Love Turned into an Eternal Missing.
Born in Johnstown, PA on September 25, 1928, the son of the late George and
Susanna (Glovyna) Kolega. He was preceded in death by his grandson Alfred
Madueno, and all his brothers and sisters, Margaret, John, Frank, Irene, Helen
and George. He was the last remaining member of his family.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by his 3 children. Victoria Nelson
(Illinois), Christine Salerno (Johnstown) and Theresa Stachowski-Fiance` Bruce
Schmader (Tionesta, PA). His grandchildren: Melissa Demas-husband Peter
(California), William Madueno-wife Hope (Illinois), Mason Stachowski-Fiancee`
April Murphy (Millerton, PA) and Chris Nelson (Illinois). He has four great-
grandchildren: Wyatt Demas, Hazel Demas, Smith Demas and Liam Madueno.
He is also survived by many dear cousins, nieces and nephews. Special nieces
Doris Gritzer, Patty Marshall, and Pam Kolega.
William graduated from Johnstown High School and was a WWII Veteran. He
served proudly in the US Navy on the USS Juneau CL-119. He was employed for
30 years at Bethlehem Steel Corporation and retired in 1983.
William was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Therese Church. He was an
active member throughout his life; involved in many activities, i.e. Holy Name
Society, Festival Committee, and making Pierogies. Bill was very active with
baseball as a manager, umpire, coach and President of the St. Therese Little
League.
Bill found pleasure traveling with his wife, family, and furry companions (Reese
and Gracie) throughout the years. He loved spending time outdoors,
landscaping, hunting, fishing, golfing, and the beach. He loved the Steelers,
Penguins, Pirates, AAABA Baseball and WCRO Radio. He cherished his entire
family. He loved celebrating the holidays, decorating, singing, dancing, enjoying
life...always being the jokester.
Friends will be received on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until
12:30 p.m. at the Moskal-Reid Funeral Home, 79 J Street, Johnstown, PA 15906.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Therese Church, 536 Decker
Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15906, Fr. Bernard Karmanocky, O.F.M celebrant.
Committal will take place at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, with Military
Honors. Reception Ace's Lounge.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to
the Building Fund at St. Therese Church, 536 Decker Avenue, Johnstown, PA
15906, in memory of William.
